October 1st was Nigeria’s independence but not a lot of Nigerians celebrated Independence day .. We really don’t have so much to celebrate apart from the fact that we are alive. Nigeria is a land of so much potential and opportunities but sometimes it’s easier to negotiate with mosquitoes than to access these opportunities in the country. Alright… I’m not here to make you sadder than you already were. Let’s start over. It’s been a while guys. Who missed me. I have a very silly excuse to why I didn’t post anything last month. I couldn’t find pictures to go with my scheduled blog posts. Silly excuse yea. But that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Tongue Out But honestly, Unlike other lifestyle bloggers… and normal human beings. I don’t like to post my pictures online. I don’t even like to take pictures like that!! Ok, I like…

I work from home a lot… My room is my workspace. While this might seem like the dream seeing as I get to avoid Lagos roads and traffic, and work flexibly, it’s also the worst arrangement as power supply is erratic in Nigeria, and generators are noisy and I almost can’t resist a well laid bed so I am tempted to sleep off or I get distracted by something else at home. I’ve found out that you can work from almost anywhere in Lagos if you really have no choice… In traffic, KFC and even mama put. Deals can be closed anywhere especially when you are the one receiving the money… don’t let anyone deceive you.  Noise: what noise? What happens when you have to do work that you actually need a quiet place for like writing, freelancing, or when you want to read for an important exam? Remember how I…

I am reviewing 2 books in this post and they are : ROYALTY BY TITO IDAKULA and Kikelomo: Diaries of an abused girl. I am combining this review into one cos I feel like they have the same underlying theme: Stories of sexual abuse and Redemption from God.. check out other book review posts in this series… review 1 and review 2 I said it here I don’t like preachy books and I have to admit both books were quite preachy.. That’s disclaimer number 1. I love my fellow Christian sisters but sometimes you just want to read a book and figure out the message by yourself. Well If that’s what you want, you wont get that from these books… BUT!!! If you are looking for inspiration and stories of redemption to motivate you when you find yourself in any of the situations these ladies found themselves, then pick…

I was probably in ss2 or ss1 … not too sure, but i was definitely in senior secondary school. Put up your hands if you attended a Nigerian Boarding secondary school.. lets meet ourselves in the comment section below. Ya’ll know that valentine was a BIGGGGG deal in secondary school!!!!!!!!! I don’t know if it is so much of a big deal now as it was, but when I was there o.. Nobody joked with valentine.. even if you were getting only singlet and boxers. This is the story of how i almost got valled.. (as we called it) but my enemies were hard at work.. Before i start my story, let me give some context.. I was a tomboy in secondary school. Boys were not queuing to toast me but at least we were all cool.. I was their guy!!! Infact once when a boy attempted to ask me…

I am currently reading NSGs book and even though i am on page 15, I started getting some funny flashbacks… NSG IS Naija Single Girl and her book is called 29,single and Nigerian. Which is an hilarious book btw. The first chapter of the book is about NYSC which made me remember a post I wrote about my first day in NYSC camp at Akwa Ibom state Nigeria. I literally had to dig this out from the archives of my old blog. which is almost 10 years old!!!! WAIT!!!! 10 YEARS OLD!!!!!! Whaaaaaaatt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol  yes I am shouting!!!! I have been writing and mostly stalking blogs for almost 10 years. My first blog was called BEWILDERED, my first post was published in February 2010 and if I remember correctly, I opened my blogger account in 2008 but just used it to comment on blogs.  I also had an active Tumblr…

Alte is the short form of Alternative (I hope…  I didn’t find a definition online) so Alternative Lagos or Alte Lagos it is. It’s Not the regular Lagos behavior and lifestyle which is permanently punctuated with Danfos, traffic, shouting, struggle, and sweat. It’s living the good baby girl/boy life. it’s composed of activities that the very regular average Lagosian isn’t concerned with or is too broke busy to participate in. Soooooo…. I did a lot of some research on how to live the Alte life (this is what happens when you have unlimited data and too much time) and since I might not be using it anymore.. I have decided to share.. Tell me thank you. [bctt tweet=”so what are the features of Alte Lagos you ask…” username=”yevandy_”] Grab some popcorn and a Wilson lemonade let me educate you. it involves going to one or more or even all of…
